Grilled Octopus with Mashed Potatoes

As a pescaterian, I love anything from fish to seafood and there is no better time than the summer to grill some octopus. You an enjoy it with salads, with mashed potatoes, with dips or on its own.

Ingredients

For the grilled octopus

  • 150 g Octopus tentacle
  • 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

For the mashed potatoes

  • 3 Potatoes medium
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Soya milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  • In a saucepan bring water to boil. Peal the potatoes, cut them in half and place into the boiling water. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, or until you can easily poke through the potatoes with a fork.
  • Remove the potatoes from the heat, drain the water, add the butter, soya milk, salt and black pepper and mash all together until they are smooth.
  • While the potatoes are boiling, heat the grill. Place the octopus on a plate and drizzle some olive oil on the top. Sprinkle salt and pepper and place directly on a greased grill rack.
  • Cook for 5-6 minutes on each side or until the tentacle becomes crispy. Remove from the grill and serve with mash potatoes.
